We'll Miss You

As I walked into Burnies I saw Max Angst sitting at the bar watching Coretta Scott King’s funeral on the television.
“She was quite a lady, Max,” I remarked.
“Oh! Hi Art, I didn’t see you come in. Yes she was. I saw some early pictures of her that I had never seen before. She was a true beauty. The kind of woman every man dreams of. She matured into the epitome of dignity. Every time I saw her on television I felt the strength of her personality, because she stood for the most important idea that exists in our world today, non-violence. Sadly there wasn’t enough said about that theme at the funeral. I thought about her when I saw the Muslims rioting because of the unfortunate caricatures of Mohammed. If only they had known about the kinds of demonstrations that Gandhi and the Kings led. They were in the right. Mocking someone’s spiritual leader is in bad taste, and probably much more. If they had put on the kind of dignified response that Mrs. King could have taught them, the whole world would have been with them and no one would have been killed or hurt. We all need to learn that; we will miss her leadership."
