A Christmas Message

A Christmas Message

I have not been writing much lately. Other things have eaten up my time and I have not been feeling all that well. But, there are things on my mind and I’ll take this time to express them. Jesus is seen differently by different people. I’ve always liked him as “the Prince of Peace”. Peace is what this world is in dire need of. We kill them, they kill us, everybody kills everybody in one sense or another, The cure for this lies at the heart of what I believe is the true message that Jesus had for us, love. . Here are his two major commandments:

Love God with all your heart, your mind, and your soul.
Love your neighbor as yourself.

And, who is this God we should love?

Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love." [1 John 4:8 ] "We have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us*.
God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him." [1 John 4:16]

It is all about love. I do not believe there is a personal God, some old King, Creator sitting outside the Universe ruling it all. But, I do believe that at the end of time lies the possibility that the Universe could become a thing of perfect love. If it did so, it would then be a God-- for love requires sentience and perfect love would require perfect sentience—which is the definition of God.
.Where do we come in? If we love the idea of building a Universe of love we would start by loving our neighbor and our self. As a loving part of a Universe of growing love, we could consider ourselves the sons and daughters of God, his active agents in the world, spreading love. I’m sure this is how Jesus saw himself. I’d say pursuing the goal of building a loving Universe is being truly religious.
So let me offer you my love and urge you to bring peace to this world of ours by being a truly loving person.
